The Weather Alternative forecast for October 25-26, 2005, posted on October 3, 2005, warned that "The inhabitants the Dominican Republic should prepare for possible tropical storm or hurricane passage as the area just south of there (69W/17N) has the potential to attract a low pressure system."

The National Weather Service expects TD 25 to become Tropical Storm Alpha later today.

Their Tropical Depression Twenty-five Advisory Number 1 forecasts the following for Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti):

THE DEPRESSION IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE TOTAL RAIN ACCUMULATIONS OF 4TO 8 INCHES OVER MUCH OF HISPANIOLA...WITH POSSIBLE ISOLATED MAXIMUM AMOUNTS OF 12 INCHES. THESE RAINS COULD PRODUCE LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODS AND MUD SLIDES.
