November 2015 Forecast Results

Here are the results for the last California drought forecasts as well as the November hurricane forecasts that appeared in June 2015 edition of Dell Horoscope.

The Jupiter-Neptune opposition of September of this year was triggered on November 17th. Since the opposition fell over California and the Pacific Northwest, I expect rain to visit the area. The National Weather Service reported on November 17th that heavy rain was possible over parts of the Cascades due to a wave of low pressure coming from the Pacific Ocean. Showers and higher elevation snow was to push into the Pacific Northwest and the Intermountain West. Below, the Weather Channel map for the 17th shows the front and rain.

Nov 16

The next forecast period was that of November 25-30. I expected strong storms or a series of fronts to deliver rain to California and the surrounding area. On the 24th, Winter Weather messages were posted by the National Weather Service for Oregon and northern and central California. Brief blizzard conditions were experienced throughout the area. The main event that was experienced for the rest of the forecast period was windy and cold conditions that affected the forecast area due to a cold upper level low that stationed itself over the Great Basin area. A number of wind advisories and freeze warnings were issued during the forecast period for California.

On the last day of the forecast period (30th), rounds of storms began to impact Washington, Oregon, and California. These storms continued throughout the first week of December.

The hurricane forecast called for possible tropical activity south of Louisiana in the Gulf and also around the Turks and Caicos Islands from November 24-27. No hurricane activity was reported over the Islands. No tropical system developed in the Gulf either, however, on the 26th  the National Weather Service reported that moisture was spreading northward from the Gulf of Mexico causing rainfall amounts of 3 to 9 inches, with locally higher amounts, from central and southern Texas to the mid-Mississippi Valley. On the 27th, two to five inches of rain affected the lower and middle Mississippi Valley. Over the next few days flash flooding continued over the lower Mississippi Valley. My take on this is that the planetary alignment between Saturn and Neptune that I expected could be indicative of a tropical system, was, nevertheless fulfilling its moisture-enhancing function that astro-meteorology recognizes it has by feeding moisture from the Gulf in to the area.

California Drought Forecast November 2015

Recent long-range California drought forecasts posted at the end of August 2015 have been successful in timing the arrival of needed rain. You can read the results here, here, and here. The latest drought monitor map, however, shows that the state is still in the grips of a serious water shortage.

20151020_west_none
Some major planetary aspects that are associated with abnormally damp weather and above normal precipitation are taking place over California. The first one on September 17th of this year (Jupiter opposition Neptune) will be triggered again during the last week of November. In addition to this, on the 17th of November, the Sun-Mercury conjunction will combine with the upcoming Saturn-Neptune square over California as shown in the map below. Saturn-Neptune combinations are known for increased precipitation.

Nov 17

The effects of this alignment may begin to be felt around the 17th, but a stronger period should be that of November 25th through the 30th when the potential is high for strong storms or a series of fronts to trigger precipitation over California and surrounding areas. Let's hope they get the rain they need.

October 9-11, 2015 Hurricane Forecast Results

The next forecast that appeared in my Dell Horoscope article entitled Celestial Storm Warnings! - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season in the June 2015 edition centered on the Florida area and East Coast.

This forecast was based on Mercury's retrograde station of October 9th which placed important planetary influences over the Southeast U.S. especially Florida as can be seen in the astro-locality map below.

Florida

The forecast called for either a tropical system to affect Florida and travel up the coast or severe thunderstorms over the peninsula.

Results

According to the Weather Prediction Center's Short Range Forecast Discussion of October 9th, heavy rain was forecast to hit eastern Georgia and the Carolinas. Flash flooding affected some areas. The low pressure area responsible for the rain was then to stall offshore.

California Drought and El Niño Results Part 3

We've been looking at the results of the California Drought and El Niño forecast that was published on August 29th of this year. You can read the previous results here and here. The last date mentioned in the forecast was that of October 16th. At this time Venus will make an opposition to Neptune which by itself is believed to increase moisture resulting in precipitation and flooding. What I thought was important was that this opposition falls directly on the Jupiter-Neptune opposition of September 17th. The astro-locality map below shows that the opposition affected the West Coast.

Ju Ne

Accuweather has just begun to announce, "Downpours Threaten Flash Flooding in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Phoenix Areas" thus fulfilling the long-range forecast. According to the weather agency, a storm located in the Pacific Ocean has begun to press inland and will deliver higher humidity and locally drenching rainfall. The following Accuweather map shows the areas likely to experience the most precipitation.

California Drought and El Niño Results Part 2

This is the second installment of forecast results for the observations I made about the California drought. You can read the original post here. The first results were posted here. In that first installment, we saw that rain did affect California and the surrounding area shortly after the September 17th Jupiter-Neptune opposition, which is what the forecast had called for.

The next date mentioned in the forecast was that of October 6th. I deemed this important because Mars opposed Neptune right on the Jupiter-Neptune opposition of September 17th. Let's see what happened. First, the California and West Coast area is singled out because the Jupiter-Neptune opposition was on the meridian through that area as seen in the astro-locality map below.

Ju Ne

The National Weather Service reported that on the 6th, an upper-level low pressure area over Southern California would move into parts of the Southwest. The low would pull moisture from the Gulf of California into the Southwestern quarter of the country producing showers and thunderstorms from Southern and Central California eastward. I would think that any rain would be welcome at this time. The upper-level low would then bring locally heavy rain and flash flooding to the Four Corners region.

Materialism

Materialism reduces thinking to neurons firing in the brain. For the materialist, humans don’t believe something because we are rationally persuaded of its truth, but because of neuronal patterns in our gray matter.
But what does that imply for materialists’ own views? To be consistent, they must apply the same reasoning to themselves: Their own materialism is not a product of rational thought, but of neurons firing in their brains. In that case, why should the rest of us give it any credence? As apologist Greg Koukl puts it, this is how a worldview “commits suicide.” When its own definition of truth is applied to itself, it discredits itself. - Nancy Pearcey

Hurricane Joaquin and East Coast Flooding

Why is Hurricane Joaquin headed for the U.S. East Coast, and why do flooding conditions plague the Carolinas and Virginia. These questions can be answered by looking at the study of astro-meteorology and how planetary cycles affect the weather.

For thousands of years, astro-meteorologists have recognized that solar and lunar eclipses are the precursors of earthquakes, droughts, famines, inundations, epidemics and other major causes. Here on the pages of The Weather Alternative we've looked at these from time to time showing their effectiveness.

In a recent post entitled Atlantic Storm Fulfills Long-range Weather Forecast, I posted the results of a long-range weather forecast I had published in the June edition of Dell Horoscope. This forecast was based on the solar eclipse of May 2012 and the fact that the Mars-Saturn alignment of Sept. 25th would activate the eclipse. In the forecast, I mentioned that disruptive atmospheric conditions would hit the Carolinas between September 24-27. An Atlantic storm formed at this time and clobbered the Carolinas with rain and gusty winds.

Little did I realize that the solar eclipse of May 2012 would remain activated past that point as Saturn would linger in opposition to the eclipse degree through the end of September. When looking at an astro-locality map for the May 2012 solar eclipse, here's what we see.

Eclipse
The areas circled in red are areas where two planets cross each other. The planets crossing over the South Carolina coast are Jupiter and Neptune. It just so happens that since Saturn is still activating the eclipse degree, Mars and Venus are both transiting over the positions Jupiter and Neptune held at the time of the eclipse, thus focusing weather patterns there. Neptune, for example, is known for its flooding influence on weather. Today's National Weather Service map shows North and South Carolina as well as Virginia highlighted in green. This indicates that they've posted various Flood and Flash Flood Watches and Warnings.

01 U.S.

As mentioned in my other post, this particular eclipse had shown the time and place of tropical systems such as Alberto, Beryl, Debbie, and Sandy. In addition to the flooding conditions just mentioned, major Hurricane Joaquin is forecast to impact over 65 million from South Carolina to Massachusetts. Referring to our astro-locality map, we see a red circle over New England. Mars and Jupiter crossed there. We've already mentioned that the degree of Jupiter is being activated now, but so is the degree of Mars since transit Jupiter is conjoining it. Had I realized Saturn's lingering influence on the May 2012 eclipse, I might have included warnings of a tropical system and severe weather in the Dell Horoscope article. Live and learn!

Atlantic Storm Fulfills Long-range Weather Forecast

Here's the next forecast from my Dell Horoscope article Celestial Storm Warnings! - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season. These forecasts appeared in the June 2015 edition.

Forecast

This long-range forecast called for disruptive atmospheric conditions or destructive storms to affect the North and South Carolina coasts between September 24-27. The forecast was based on certain planetary alignments that would active the May 20, 2012 solar eclipse. This eclipse had, in years passed, produced tropical systems such as Alberto, Beryl, Debbie, and Sandy.

Results

Accuweather is reporting that this storm will clobber a 600-mile stretch of the Eastern Seaboard with rain, gusty winds, and prolonged rough surf through this weekend. The storm was attempting to take on some tropical characteristics but did not have enough time. The Accuweather map below shows the area affected.

California Drought and El Niño Results

In my August 29th post of this year, I presented some forecasts for California and surrounding areas. These forecasts were based on the planetary alignment between Jupiter and Neptune that took place on the 17th of September, 2015. In astro-meteorology, the alignment of these two planets is indicative of isolated torrential downpours and flash flooding.

I listed a number of dates in September and October when I thought this alignment would be active in bringing rain to the California and Arizona areas. The first date I mentioned was the period in and around September 17th.

Results

Accuweather reported that on September 15th, Los Angeles experienced the rainiest day of the year.

On the 16th, the Pacific Northwest experienced soaking rain and flash flood potential as shown in the following Accuweather map.

16 West Coast 2

On the 19th, forecasters warned that rain was poised to wallop the Southwest U.S. raising flooding risk from the 21st through the 23rd. As shown in the map below, 2 to 4 inches of rain was to hit southern California and Arizona.

19 Rain Southwest

A larger area, of course, was being affected. The next Accuweather map shows the bigger picture and the extent of the flooding rain.

19 Rain Southwest2

I'll post more results as the next forecast dates arrive.

September 16-19, 2015 Hurricane Forecast Results

The next forecast that appeared in my Dell Horoscope article entitled Celestial Storm Warnings! - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season in the June 2015 edition centered on the Gulf Coast area from Texas through the Florida Panhandle.

Forecast
I expected the threat of a tropical system between September 16-19 or at least excessive precipitation.

Results
On the 14th, Accuweather.com commented on the possibility of a tropical system developing in the Gulf of Mexico. They included the map below but warned that the low pressure area about 90 miles southeast of Tampico, Mexico, was in an environment too hostile for development.

14 Tropical Storm

On the 18th Accuweather forecasters commented on an area of low pressure off the west coast of Florida in the Gulf that was fueled by some leftover moisture from Tropical Storm Grace. Once again, the environment was not favorable for development although it would bring heavy rain to the Florida Peninsula.

18 Atlantic

August 31 - September 8, 2015 Hurricane Forecast Results

Here is the next installment of forecast results from my Dell Horoscope article Celestial Storm Warnings - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season. The article appeared in the June 2015 edition.

The long-range forecast for August 31 through September 8 focused first on Louisiana (Aug 31 - Sept 3) and then on Texas (Sept 4-8).

Forecast
For the Louisiana area the forecast stated that the planetary alignments at this time "intimate[s] that severe weather potential, possibly tropical in nature, is in the cards for this location."

Results

On August 30th, the National Hurricane Center posted the map below showing the position of the remnants of Tropical Storm Erika off the coast of Florida in the eastern Gulf.

30 Tropics

Forecasters then warned on the 31st that a trough associated with the leftovers from Erika would affect the Gulf from Florida to the Yucatan. For Louisiana, this meant that "a very moist and unstable tropical air mass" was in place over area according to the NWS. Forecasters for Eastern Texas also were monitoring "potential for locally heavy rainfall." The following Accuweather map for Sept 2nd shows the conditions.

02 Erika's Moisture

Forecast
The next portion of the forecast (Sept 4-8) for Texas called for "tropical moisture of some kind or increasing temperatures, possibly resulting in severe thunderstorms."

Results

Accuweather.com reported on Sept 7th "Welcome Rainfall, Heat Relief to Spread Across Texas." The Accuweather map below depicts the expected rainfall on the 9th through the 11th - a bit later than I expected.

07 Texas

California Drought and El Niño: Fall 2015 Forecast

The accompanying map from the U.S Drought Monitor website shows the exceptional drought conditions over California as of August 25, 2015.

25 Cal Drought

The Climate Prediction Center's outlook for September, October, and November of this year in the next map shows above-average rainfall likely over Arizona and into California as well as other areas of the Desert Southwest. Recently, an AccuWeather post for Fall 2015 also held out a bit of hope by saying, "An expected strong El Niño will lead to beneficial rain for Southern California, but it may be delayed until late fall and winter."

Three month SON 2015

In this post, I'll consider some dates when drought conditions may be alleviated based on planetary cycles that culminate in September of this year and are then triggered later in October. The main player is the Jupiter-Neptune opposition of September 17, 2015. At the time of their opposition, they will be over 119 degrees west longitude through California.

Ju Ne

From another perspective, the New Moon of September 13th places them along 112 west longitude through Arizona. The conjunctions and oppositions of Jupiter and Neptune induce isolated torrential downpours and are potential flash flood breeders according to G. J. McCormack, the 20th Century's ablest astro-meteorologist. So there is the potential that around the 17th of September we may see precipitation over this area as well as around September 26th when the Moon will conjoin and oppose this degree. But I'm even more concerned about a couple of dates in October.

On October 6th, Mars will oppose Neptune--another combination known for producing semi-tropical low pressure areas. This opposition will fall right on the Jupiter-Neptune opposition of September 17th mentioned above. Hence, this could be another period--in and around October 6th--where beneficial rain is seen over California. To a lesser extent, when Venus and Neptune oppose each other on October 16th and activate the same Jupiter-Neptune aspect there may be more moisture flowing in over the same area.

August 3-7, 2015 Forecast Results

My article Celestial Storm Warnings! - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season that appeared in the June 2015 edition of Dell Horoscope contained a forecast for August 3-7. There were two forecasts for this period: one for the west coast of Mexico over the states of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, and surrounding areas, and another for the U.S. Deep South centering over Alabama.

I expected some type of severe weather pattern such as above-average rainfall or a tropical system over the above-mentioned area of Mexico, and either a tropical system or severe thunderstorms and dangerous atmospheric conditions over the Deep South.

Mexico

The first map below shows the area over Mexico where planetary influence was centered and consequently where severe weather was expected.

Aug 4 2015 Mexico
On August 3rd, the National Meteorological Service of Mexico issued heavy rain warnings for Jalisco, Michoacan and other Mexican states effective August 4th. According to their advisory, Tropical Wave #24 would bring 2 to 3 inches of rain in Jalisco and other states, and 1 to 2 inches of rain to Colima, Michoacan and other areas.

Their forecast for August 5th called for 1 to 2 inches of rain over Jalisco and Michoacan, and on the 6th heavy rain was imminent over Jalisco, Michoacan, and surrounding territories. The weather map below is for August 4th and shows Tropical Wave #24 south of the forecast area with its associated rain over the forecast area.

04 Mexico

Alabama

A low pressure area developed over coastal Georgia on the 3rd and is shown in the National Hurricane Center map below. Upper-level winds were not favorable for development.

03 Tropics

On the 6th, AccuWeather reported the following: "Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as well as Atlanta, Georgia, are expected to see strong thunderstorms through the evening as torrential downpours and gusty winds blow across the area."  The National Weather Service also issued a tornado warning for south central Pike County in Alabama. The AccuWeather map below shows the area affected.

July 23-27, 2015 Forecast Results

The next long-range weather forecast that appeared in the June 2015 edition of Dell Horoscope looked at the July 23-27 period. Due to the Mars-Uranus square of July 25th, I forecast tropical storm or hurricane potential off the U.S. East Coast around 69 west longitude and 37 north latitude. Let's see what happened.

Starting on July 20th, and for roughly the next 7 days, conventional meteorologists such as those at AccuWeather and The Weather Channel began to warn of the possibility of tropical storm formation both in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and off the U.S. Southeast coast. Below is the AccuWeather map for their forecast.

20 Tropical System

AccuWeather stated that the area of concern stretched from the Gulf of Mexico all the way to the waters off the Carolinas. This last area is around the area where I was expecting to see a tropical system develop.

Although no tropical system developed in spite of their forecasts or mine, from July 29-30, the National Weather Service reported on a low pressure center that moved to 72 west longitude/36 north latitude prompting gale warnings. The low pressure center was not far from the coordinates mentioned in my forecast -- approximately 180 miles away.

There was at least some kind of weather "reaction" over the area mentioned in the long-range forecast. But why the delay? I've seen this happen with other forecasts, and in these cases I've noticed that the expected weather pattern based on the planetary alignment in question sometimes does not manifest until the Moon either conjoins or opposes the degree of the planetary alignment. In this case, the Moon opposed the position of Mars on July 30th when the low pressure area developed. This is an area requiring further study.

Hurricane Dolores Fulfills Long-range Weather Forecast

The next long-range weather forecast that appeared in the June 2015 edition of Dell Horoscope focused on the July 15-17 period. These forecasts were prepared starting in July 2014 and were sent to the publisher in January of 2015. Two forecasts were made. Let's see how they turned out.

The first forecast pinpointed the southern tip of Baja, California as a place ripe for tropical storm or hurricane activity at this time. The reason was that the last alignment between Uranus and Pluto in March of 2015 placed these two planets over that area as shown in the astro-locality map below.

Uranus-Pluto
Between July 15-17 the conjunction of Mercury and Mars in opposition to Pluto would fall on this planetary crossing and activate it bringing the possibility of a tropical system over this area. The AccuWeather map below from their July 16th post on Hurricane Dolores shows the category 4 hurricane affecting western Mexico and the Baja, thus fulfilling the forecast.

16 Dolores

The next area mentioned in the forecast had to do with the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. At this location, the Mercury-Mars-Pluto alignment would trigger the previous lunar eclipse of April 2015. The forecast called for possible tropical activity over this region.

Between July 15th and 17th, two tropical waves passed over the Yucatan according to Mexico's national weather service (Servico Meteorológico National). The first tropical wave brought electrical storms, rain, and winds of up to 20 mph with gusts reaching 30 mph. The second one brought 1 to 2 inches of rain over the Yucatan with 2 to 3 inches of rain over the states directly west of the Yucatan. The next map below for the 17th shows Tropical Wave 17 passing over the forecast area.

Mexico July 17

July 6-8, 2015 Forecast Results

Here are the results of the latest long-range forecast published in the June 2015 edition of Dell Horoscope. The forecast was based on the Sun-Pluto opposition and its trigger to the lunar eclipse chart of April 4, 2015. The Sun and Moon were rising and setting at the time of the eclipse near the Yucatan Peninsula and the Gulf of Mexico as can be seen in the following map.

Lunar Eclipse
When the Sun opposed Pluto on July 6th, it squared the lunar eclipse degree as they passed through the Yucatan and the Gulf as seen in the next map.

Based on this, and other planetary alignments, the forecast pointed out that "around this time there is potential for severe weather to develop over this area, which may include possible tropical storm formation."

Results

July 5th - The National Weather Service of Mexico reported that Tropical Wave No. 13 was situated over the Yucatan Peninsula.

July 7th - The U.S. National Weather Service reported, "A trough will develop over the Yucatan Peninsula each evening...shift westward into the SW Gulf waters each night...and dissipate over the SW Gulf each morning."

July 9th - According to the National Weather Service the developing trough each evening over the Yucatan would provide moderate convection and "enhance wind and seas across the SW Gulf during the overnight hours."

July 10th - The NWS reports a tropical wave over the Yucatan Peninsula.

The NWS map below shows the situation over the Yucatan late on the 9th.

June 21, 2015 Forecast Results

In my June 2015 article in Dell Horoscope, I mentioned that there was a chance that a low pressure system could manifest over the Louisiana area around June 21st due to the placements of Mercury and Neptune in the key summer season chart. Here's a visual representation of how those two planets affect the area.

June 21
This crossing that we see over Louisiana has the potential to be activated later on in the season, and different forecasts will come up over the next months that will focus on this. But in the article, I thought that around June 21st we might see some low pressure activity since Mercury would square Neptune on the 23rd. In astro-meteorology, squares are disruptive influences on weather patterns. In the next map below, we see their positions on the 23rd, when they perfect their square. The crossing moves southward into the Gulf of Mexico.

June 25
You'll notice I put a little circle to the left of the crossing. That's because on the 25th a tropical wave was moving through that corner of the Gulf and positioned at 94 west longitude and 24 north latitude where the circle is. Prior to this, the tropical wave was over the Yucatan on the 24th.

June 9-12, 2015 Forecast Results

The first forecast of my article Celestial Storm Warnings that appears in the June 2015 edition of Dell Horoscope is for the period between June 9-12. The forecast was based on the astro-locality map below where we see two planetary lines (those of Mercury and Neptune) crossing south of New England and east of Virginia around 70 west longitude and 36 north latitude.

  June Full Moon
Although the article deals with hurricane forecasts, I mentioned it might be too early on in the season at this particular location for a tropical system to form. Therefore, I said there might be a non-tropical low pressure area that forms there or a front.

The National Weather Service forecast map for June 8th shows a stationary front forming over 70 west longitude and about 33 north latitude, as shown in the next map.

08 Atlantic

Then on the 9th, the NWS map shows a low pressure area forming around 35 north latitude but a bit farther east at around 64 west longitude. It's shown on the next map and labeled with an "L" and the number 576.

09 Atlantic

It's interesting to note that the planetary lines in the astro-locality map extend northward through New England. On the 9th, AccuWeather.com posted the following map showing severe thunderstorms with hail and damaging winds for the New England area.

09 Northeast

Update on India Heat Wave and Monsoon

The May 30th post, India Heat Wave, discussed one of the planetary influences at work over the country that, from an astro-meteorological standpoint, indicated the heat wave. I also ventured to say that the Full Moon chart of June 2nd would set up a different planetary influence that would be an indication of a pattern change to wetter conditions. This was due to Venus occupying the eastern coast of India. In astro-meteorology, Venus in the sign Cancer, is indicative of increasing moisture and showers. The map below shows the position of Venus at the time of the Full Moon.

India2
Following are a few news reports of monsoon activity over the Indian subcontinent in recent days confirming an influx of moisture over the regions that Venus occupied at the Full Moon. I've included a political map of India in order to recognize more easily the states affected by the monsoon rains.

09 India politica

On June 5th, the India Meteorological Department stated that "Monsoon Hits Kerala." From the political map, we see that Kerala is located on the southwestern tip of the subcontinent. The astro-locality map shows the Venus line passing over that area. In the same post, the IMD stated that parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh could expect the advance of the monsoon in the next 48 hours. These areas fall under the Venus line in the astro-locality map.

The news story on June 6th read "Rains lash Andhra, Telangana; conditions conducive for monsoon." We'll note that Telangana is also under the Venus line. The article declared that these pre-monsoon showers brought down temperatures to the delight of the inhabitants of these areas.

Today's news report for June 9th indicated that a cyclonic circulation is now present over the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh bringing good rainfall to the area. The report also mentions that the monsoon will remain active over Northeast India, which we can see from the astro-locality map, is under the influence of the Venus line.

India Heat Wave

India has been suffering a heat wave since around May 21st that has claimed, up until now, about 1,700 lives. Here are a couple of observations on the astro-meteorological causes of the heat wave.

India Heat Deaths

On May 18th, the New Moon took place at 26 degrees Taurus. This placed the planet Uranus over 78 east longitude through central India as seen in the astro-locality map below. In astro-meteorology Uranus induces the highest barometric pressure. At this time, Uranus is transiting the sign Aries. Although Uranus is generally known to decrease temperatures, Aries is equated with hot and dry temperatures and conditions. So combining the high pressure of Uranus with Aries characteristics, we have the makings of a heat wave.

India1
The next lunar phase is the Full Moon of June 2nd. This chart, as seen below, will place the planet Venus along the eastern coast of India. Venus in astro-meteorology is indicative of downfall in excess of the normal period. Venus is transiting through the sign Cancer which is a wet sign. This would be an indication that the weather pattern changes to usher in moisture over those portions of India and begin to combat the reigning heat wave. Let's hope so.
