Atlantic Storm Fulfills Long-range Weather Forecast

Here's the next forecast from my Dell Horoscope article Celestial Storm Warnings! - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season. These forecasts appeared in the June 2015 edition.

Forecast

This long-range forecast called for disruptive atmospheric conditions or destructive storms to affect the North and South Carolina coasts between September 24-27. The forecast was based on certain planetary alignments that would active the May 20, 2012 solar eclipse. This eclipse had, in years passed, produced tropical systems such as Alberto, Beryl, Debbie, and Sandy.

Results

Accuweather is reporting that this storm will clobber a 600-mile stretch of the Eastern Seaboard with rain, gusty winds, and prolonged rough surf through this weekend. The storm was attempting to take on some tropical characteristics but did not have enough time. The Accuweather map below shows the area affected.

California Drought and El Niño Results

In my August 29th post of this year, I presented some forecasts for California and surrounding areas. These forecasts were based on the planetary alignment between Jupiter and Neptune that took place on the 17th of September, 2015. In astro-meteorology, the alignment of these two planets is indicative of isolated torrential downpours and flash flooding.

I listed a number of dates in September and October when I thought this alignment would be active in bringing rain to the California and Arizona areas. The first date I mentioned was the period in and around September 17th.

Results

Accuweather reported that on September 15th, Los Angeles experienced the rainiest day of the year.

On the 16th, the Pacific Northwest experienced soaking rain and flash flood potential as shown in the following Accuweather map.

On the 19th, forecasters warned that rain was poised to wallop the Southwest U.S. raising flooding risk from the 21st through the 23rd. As shown in the map below, 2 to 4 inches of rain was to hit southern California and Arizona.

A larger area, of course, was being affected. The next Accuweather map shows the bigger picture and the extent of the flooding rain.

September 16-19, 2015 Hurricane Forecast Results

The next forecast that appeared in my Dell Horoscope article entitled Celestial Storm Warnings! - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season in the June 2015 edition centered on the Gulf Coast area from Texas through the Florida Panhandle.

Forecast
I expected the threat of a tropical system between September 16-19 or at least excessive precipitation.

Results
On the 14th, Accuweather.com commented on the possibility of a tropical system developing in the Gulf of Mexico. They included the map below but warned that the low pressure area about 90 miles southeast of Tampico, Mexico, was in an environment too hostile for development.

On the 18th Accuweather forecasters commented on an area of low pressure off the west coast of Florida in the Gulf that was fueled by some leftover moisture from Tropical Storm Grace. Once again, the environment was not favorable for development although it would bring heavy rain to the Florida Peninsula.

August 31 - September 8, 2015 Hurricane Forecast Results

Here is the next installment of forecast results from my Dell Horoscope article Celestial Storm Warnings - Predicting the 2015 Hurricane Season. The article appeared in the June 2015 edition.

The long-range forecast for August 31 through September 8 focused first on Louisiana (Aug 31 - Sept 3) and then on Texas (Sept 4-8).

Forecast
For the Louisiana area the forecast stated that the planetary alignments at this time "intimate[s] that severe weather potential, possibly tropical in nature, is in the cards for this location."

Results

On August 30th, the National Hurricane Center posted the map below showing the position of the remnants of Tropical Storm Erika off the coast of Florida in the eastern Gulf.

Forecasters then warned on the 31st that a trough associated with the leftovers from Erika would affect the Gulf from Florida to the Yucatan. For Louisiana, this meant that "a very moist and unstable tropical air mass" was in place over area according to the NWS. Forecasters for Eastern Texas also were monitoring "potential for locally heavy rainfall." The following Accuweather map for Sept 2nd shows the conditions.

Forecast
The next portion of the forecast (Sept 4-8) for Texas called for "tropical moisture of some kind or increasing temperatures, possibly resulting in severe thunderstorms."

Results

Accuweather.com reported on Sept 7th "Welcome Rainfall, Heat Relief to Spread Across Texas." The Accuweather map below depicts the expected rainfall on the 9th through the 11th - a bit later than I expected.
