New Year's 2017 Weather Forecast

New Years

There are a few areas of the country that are likely to see some adverse weather conditions around New Year's Eve and into the first days of the new year. Planetary cycles involving Jupiter, Uranus, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune will be culminating between Dec 29, 2016 and January 1, 2017. Here's an idea of what to expect.

Pacific Northwest

As mentioned in a previous post, the direct station of Uranus affects the Pacific Northwest. This planet is known for its cold influence and wind-generating capabilities especially since it aligns in opposition to Jupiter. To get an idea of what kind of weather the Pacific Northwest should expect refer to this link. The influence of Uranus' direct station requires a bit of a window in which its influence on the weather is felt. This should begin to manifest from the 29th through the first few days of January 2017.

East Coast

The Mars-Saturn conjunction of August 24, 2016 will be brought to life again on New Year's Day by a Mars-Neptune conjunction. The original conjunction off the Southeast US coast (see map below) coincided with Hurricane Hermine and Tropical Depression 8 that affected the area at the end of August into the beginning of September of this year.

Mars Saturn Aug 2016

This area should once again spring to life. We will most likely find meteorologists focusing their attention here as moisture is made available to fuel storms and is drawn northward over the Carolinas and into the Mid-Atlantic.

East Central

The New Moon chart of December 29th, will place the aforementioned Jupiter-Uranus opposition over the East Central states as well. (See map below) This cold and windy weather maker will most likely join forces with the moisture being drawn up over the Southeast to create potentially dangerous storms during the holidays. Check with your local weather station at this time and stay safe.

January 6-8, 2017 Long-range Weather Forecasts

Here are some experimental weather forecasts based on a new forecast approach I'm working with. The study of astro-meteorology, or how planetary alignments and cycles affect weather patterns, requires that its practitioners devote some of their efforts to experimentation. The following forecasts are based on the Moon's entrance into various zodiacal signs.

Forecast for January 6-8, 2017

The first map shows where the Sun-Pluto conjunction of January 7th will take place. The conjunction is represented by the two blue lines running along the US West Coast. The white line represents the position of the Moon. Sun-Pluto conjunctions often equate with colder weather conditions. In this case we may see a cold front that triggers stormy conditions along the West Coast between these dates.

Also in the map you'll see two lines that cross over the US Northeast. The vertical line represents the position of Venus and the diagonal line that of Mercury. Since Mercury is about to begin its direct motion on the 8th, this area may experience windy conditions during the forecast period.

Jan 6 2017

Our next map focuses on the west coast of Australia where we see Mercury, represented by the white line, crossing with Mars, shown by the yellow line. Here, once again, we may see windy or stormy conditions due to the presence of a low pressure system or front.

Long-range Weather Forecast December 19-30, 2016

The period from December 19th through the 30th of this year presents some important planetary alignments that have the potential to affect weather conditions over the Pacific Northwest and California as well as over the US Central Plains according to the study of astro-meteorology.

The main planetary alignments are Mercury's retrograde station, the Jupiter-Uranus opposition, the Sun's conjunction with Mercury, and the direct station of Uranus. Mercury's retrograde station has been shown to increase wind velocities over the areas where Mercury appears in key weather charts. For example, between January 21st and 25th, 2015, Mercury held such a position over Southern California. The National Weather Service at that time warned the inhabitants of the area of locally gusty winds and strong damaging Santa Ana winds. (see post)

December 20-29, 2016

The Last Quarter Moon of December 20, 2016 will highlight the same area. The following astro-locality map shows three lines that represent the Moon's position (yellow line) and Mercury and Pluto's position (the two black lines - Mercury is the leftmost line). This intimates that between the 20th and 29th of December weather conditions over Southern California (and the West Coast states in general) could get quite blustery perhaps accompanied by rainy conditions.

December 26-30, 2016

On December 26th, Jupiter will oppose Uranus. In the parlance of astro-meteorology, this signifies high velocity winds, lower ranges of temperatures, and storm potential. The last Jupiter-Uranus opposition was on August 29, 2013. On this day, Fabian, churning east of the Lesser Antilles, became the season's third hurricane. Key charts placed Jupiter and Uranus over the western Atlantic as well as over the east-central and eastern US. Weekly rainfall totaled 2 to 6 inches from Missouri to the Mid-Atlantic states as Tropical Storm Grace became embedded in a nearly stationary front according to the Weekly Weather and Crop Bulletin.

This year, the Jupiter-Uranus opposition will affect the Central and Eastern Plains. As seen in the map below, an important planetary crossing forms with Jupiter, Uranus (white line), and Mercury (blue line) over Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa where cold, gusty winds and storm conditions may pose threats.

Jupiter Uranus

December 28th brings the Sun's conjunction to Mercury which takes up residence over the Central Plains. To get an idea of the cold, stormy, and windy conditions generated by a Sun-Mercury conjunction check out this link. Something similar to that is indicated now.

December 29, 2016

The last planetary phenomenon to mention is the direct station of Uranus which affects the Pacific Northwest. This planet is known for its cold influence and wind-generating capabilities. Most of the aspects we're discussing in this post seem to major on this theme. To get an idea of what kind of weather the Pacific Northwest should expect refer to this link. The influence of Uranus' direct station requires a bit of a window in which its influence on the weather is felt. This should begin to manifest from the 29th through the first few days of January 2017.
