A Little Warmth

The Weather Alternative's forecast for Feb 13-15, 2008 was based on the Sun's trine to Mars. It read:

The Accuweather map at left shows the warmth that will embrace the region today and tomorrow. It will be short lived however, but long enough to justify the long-range forecast. Afterwards a storm system will approach the area.

How Long-Range Forecasts Are Made

Ding Xiuling, a leader of China's Christian community, was imprisioned in October 1989.

Ding shared her faith with many of the prisoners, and they came to rely on her leadership. In one incident, which she described as a "miracle," she told the prisoners under her charge to take a break from working on a brick wall and sit down at a distance on the grass because it was such a pleasant day. Just then an explosion in a chemical factory next to the prison destroyed the wall where the prisoners had been working. The prison officials were frightened, but not a single prisoner was hurt. Ding recalled, "One of the officials grabbed my hand and said, 'Your God is truly a great god.'"
